Video: Google Helps To Grant 97-Year-Old's Wish To See The Future
Two things have helped 97-year-old Olive Horrell to see the future, as she wanted.
One was by the Wish of a Lifetime, a nonprofit that grants wishes to senior citizens, with the support of Brookdale Senior Living. The second was Google's headquarters in California, where she could take a VIP tour of the tech giant's latest technology, according to HNGN.
For three years, Horrell mulled over what she wanted. Finally, she decided to wish for a simple-complicated one---to see the future. Hence,, Google's headquarters was ideal for her wish to come true.
It is interesting to compare Horrell's future with her past. She was born at the end of the First World War, in rural Montana, where there was no electricity and she did not know what a radio did, or why. She would tour her city in a horse-driven buggy.
She shifted to California when she was eight, but had to weather the Great Depression, reports CNN Money.
Google enabled her to ride in a driverless car, customise her Google Doodle, talk to the top cloud engineers, and savour the wonders of virtual reality through Google Cardboard.
Her trip ended with a meeting with the founder of Wish of a Lifetime, Jeremy Bloom, who personally met her at the end.
"You're such a gentle soul, it's just been lovely to meet you. Most of the time we aren't seen, as you know," she said, holding Bloom's hand.
