‘Captain America Civil War’ Cast Spoilers: 6 New Actors Joining the Marvel Universe
"Captain America Civil War" will be featuring a lot of familiar faces. Even though fans are excited about seeing their favorite superheroes in action once again - with the exception of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) - they are also welcoming the newcomers.
Here are 6 new actors who will be joining the Marvel Universe in "Captain America: Civil War":
1. Daniel Brühl
Daniel Brühl, who has starred in several movies, including "Burnt," "Rush" and "Inglorious Bastards," will be playing the villain, Baron Helmut Zemo. In the comics, Zemo is a mad scientist and a former member of the Nazi Party who lived during World War II.
The character is known for wearing a permanent purple mask on his face. Brühl, however, has already teased fans that he will not be wearing the mask.
2. Martin Freeman
British actor Martin Freeman, known for his work on the TV series, "Sherlock" and in "The Hobbit" movies, will be starring in an unspecified role. Although "Captain America Civil War" is already in post-production, there are no details available regarding the character that he is playing.
Freeman has talked about how his character "works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes' power."
"So you're not quite sure which side he's on. It looks a little bit like he's playing one game when actually he's playing another," Freeman added.
3. Gene Farber
Gene Farber will be playing Soviet officer, Vasily Karpov, who has worked with and indirectly against Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in the comics. It is unclear whether or not Karpov will be aiding or hindering the First Avenger in this upcoming movie.
4. Marisa Tomei
Marisa Tomei will reportedly be introduced as Aunt May in "Captain America: Civil War" before she makes an appearance in the 2017 standalone Spider-Man film. Tomei, whose involvement in the movie is still listed as "rumored" under the IMDB page, will most likely make a very short cameo.
Aunt May, who is Peter Parker's guardian, has been played by older actresses in previous films.
5. Tom Holland
Tom Holland will be playing the teenaged version of Spider-Man/Peter Parker.
Rumors are claiming that Spider-Man will initially be a part of Iron Man/ Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) side but will later switch sides and team up with Captain America.
6. Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Boseman will be playing Black Panther, who is also known as T'Challa. In the comics, the Black Panther will become the King of Wakanda.
In "Captain America: Civil War," it seems like Black Panther will be on Iron Man side as he takes on Captain America. A Black Panther standalone movie is scheduled for 2018.
"Captain America: Civil War" will also be starring Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch/ Wanda Maximoff), Paul Bettany (Vision), Sebastian Stan (Winter Solider/Bucky Barnes), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye/Clint Barton), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man/Scott Lang), Emily VanCamp (Agent 13/Sharon Carter) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon/Sam Wilson).
"Captain America Civil War" opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.
