Hurricane Patricia Breezes through Mexican City while Rummaging through the Remote villages
Thankfully for Mexico, hurricane Patricia passed by without causing the annihilation that was expected. However, it did uproot a shoreline that was dotted with luxury villas as well as fishing villages in a storm as strong as 165 mph. Thousands of residents as well as the tourists evacuated the area to avoid, what has been recorded as the strongest, storm in history. They hastily sought refuge in safe shelters ahead of the storm. As the storm averted major tourist spots such as Puerto Vallarta and cargo port of Manzanillo, high number of casualties could be averted for this reason. The storm, however, fought its way through small rural villages, amounting to mass destruction, uprooted trees, destroyed homes etc. A rural farmer Roberto Gonzalez said, "I've lost everything, I don't even have anywhere to sleep", reports Yahoo News.
The first hit village of Chamela lost at least 50 homes in the storm. The rsidents had already been evacuated from the shelter as a safety measure. As the storm hit the streets, it has been noted under category 5 hurricane before making its way inland through streets and damaging buildings. It moved swiftly when it started but soon lost traction as rose up to the mountains along the pacific coast. According to the experts, the damage has been limited due to hitting the mountains, says First Post.
In Puerto Vallarta, while the storm didn't quite reach there, the tourists had already been evacuated on Friday night and by next morning the airports and other form of transportation was operational ferrying the tourists out of the city. After the terrifying night, the residents woke up to utter chaos and walked through scenes of destruction and debris left behind by Hurricane Patricia, as per Reuters.
