Officers Attending Funeral of Slain NYPD officer, Randolph Holder, to get Free Tickets on JetBlue Airways
Jet Blue Airways has offered free flight tickets to all the police officers who want to attend the funeral of Randolph Holder, the slain New York Police Officer. The company says they are happy and honored to transport the colleagues who want to pay their last tribute to the brave comrade. The same offer was extended by JetBlue last year in December when two officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, were killed while on the duty, according to the Associated Press.
Holder was killed by Tyrone Howard, who stole a bicycle at gun point. When Holder and his partner pursued the suspect, he opened fire and shot Holder in the head. William Bratton, Police Commissioner, said that the funereal are still being finalized. Soon after the shooting, 30-year-old Tyrone Howard was arrested and taken into custody. He will be charged on Wednesday for his crimes. So far, it is not known if he has a lawyer to release comment about his allegations, reports NBC News.
According to Bratton, as told to ABC News, Howard has also been arrested once before in September when he was charged with selling cocaine at East Harlem public housing complex. He also said that "If ever there was a candidate not to be diverted, it would be this guy. There are people in out society who are criminal, who are violent criminals ... who should be separated from the rest of society." Howard has been arrested at least 28 times since he was a 13-year-old for crimes like drug possession, robbery and now a murder too. According to the records, he has been sentenced to state prison twice since 2007. He was also taken into custody following a 2009 shooting that grazed a 78-year-old with a bullet and 11-year-old with a shot wound.
