‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Spoilers: Can Enid Really be a Spy for the Wolves?
Is Enid really a spy?
Ever since Enid, Carl's teenage love interest, was introduced to "The Walking Dead," fans have repeatedly questioned her true intentions. In this past Sunday's episode, one particular scene appeared to have confirmed Enid's loyalty to the people of Alexandria.
After the Wolves invaded the peaceful town and started butchering everyone with machetes, Enid and Carl ended up in the house together to protect Carl's baby sister, Judith. While at the house, Enid explained to Carl how a place like Alexandra could never stay safe because it is too big. She then started off saying, "That's how we-," but could not finish her thought.
Forbes presented a good argument about why Enid is a spy.
"The show has made a point of showing Enid sneaking off to the woods after scaling the wall, and she actually sees Carl when she's outside the wall when they first reach the town. Either she just loves woodsy walks, or this is how she's feeding intel to the Wolves. At one point, Carl tracks her, but she catches him before she can do anything conspicuous, and that's when the two have a bonding moment hiding in the tree from the walkers. But the real reason she was out there in the first place was never addressed, and only now does it seem pretty clear what she was doing."
The article also argued that just having all of the keys makes Enid a very suspicious character. On top of that, the fact that the Wolves chose the perfect time to attack, when Rick and his entire group except Carol were away, would make one question whether or not they had information.
Vanity Fair writes:
"Of course, then there is Enid-who is most likely, quite literally a Wolf in sheep's clothing. We already knew she had a penchant for sneaking beyond the wall, but her gruesome origin story showed this girl's rough beginnings and her hesitation to enter Alexandria, as well as her cagey behavior once she got there, and suggests she's probably some sort of double agent. And then there's all the ominous things she's told Carl-'It's their world, we're just living in it,' she said last season, while her final note says, 'Just survive somehow.'"
Despite the evidence that points to Enid as a spy, it is hard to imagine that the Wolves, who seem to be barbarians, reasoned and plotted such an intricate plan to take down Alexandria. The Wolves also did not seem like they wanted to take over Alexandria for themselves.
Viewers will not know if Enid is a spy or just another person who is trying to survive until more episodes premiere. Based from IMDB.com, Katelyn Nacon, the actress who plays Enid, will be in the show until episode 8.
"The Walking Dead" airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
