Kate Middleton News Update: Duchess of Cambridge Attends Her First Royal Banquet In Stunning Diamond Jewelry
Kate Middleton looks stunning in a red Jenny Packham gown with a matching tiara at her first ever Royal Banquet at the Buckingham Palace in welcoming China's president, Jin Ping on Tuesday.
Yahoo News said that the diamond accessory is called the Lotus Flower tiara, a Royal family heirloom said to be Queen Elizabeth's favorite. This is also the third time that the duchess has worn such expensive jewelry to show humility and live by her image as 'the people's princess.
The first time that Middleton has worn it was in 2011 when she was married to Prince William and in 2013 when she wore a papyrus tiara at the annual diplomatic reception in that year, Hollywood Life reported.
The diamond tiara that Middleton has worn recently is said to be originally owned and worn by Queen Elizabeth's mother, Queen Mary in the 1920s.
Her red gown is also carefully chosen with co-designer, Elizabeth Emanuel saying that "red is very important as a statement in itself as it matches the color of the Chinese flag and it means good fortune."
Kate was with her Prince William who is sporting a white bow tie. They joined with other members of the Royal family namely Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh among 130 guests in the palace, Pop Sugar said.
Aside from his birthday celebration, China's president' four-day stay in the UK with his wife, Madame Peng Liyuan is part of the political friendship between China and the UK with Queen Elizabeth saying that the visit is "a defining moment in this very special year for our bilateral relationship."
Among other prominent attendees include Prime Minister David Cameron, Chancellor George Osborne and Prince Harry.
