Idina Menzel Just ‘Assumes’ A ‘Frozen’ Sequel is In The Works
Just two days after Idina Menzel, the voice of Queen Elsa in Disney's super hit movie "Frozen," said that a sequel to the Oscar-winning movie was "all under works," the "Let It Go" singer said she only "assumed" a second film was in the anvil since it was so successful.
On Monday's "Today Show," Menzel cleared the buzz about a sequel to "Frozen," much to the disappointment of fans.
"You know, I have no idea," Menzel said at the show.
"I just assume because it's so successful, that that's what they're up to - [another film]," she added.
Menzel's comments just added to the rising confusion of whether a sequel of the super hit movie would come to the theaters. In an interview with The Telegraph earlier, she got hopes of fans up saying that a theater production, a short film and a sequel were all being produced or worked upon.
Menzel also added that though she wasn't sure about her role in the stage adaptation and the short film, she was counting on reprising her role in the movie.
"Not the stage show. I don't know what will happen with that, but the movie hopefully. We'll see. I'm just going along for the ride," the Broadway crooner quipped.
While a movie sequel is doubtful, the short film was confirmed by Disney in September this year.
The short film titled "Frozen fever" will reportedly be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck. It is produced by Peter Del Vecho. While Idina Menzel (or Adele Dazeem as per John Travolta), Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad will be reprising their voices for the respective characters, a new song by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez is also planned.
The plot of "Frozen Fever" revolves around Anna's birthday and apparently, Kristoff and Elsa are determined to throw Anna the best birthday bash ever. But Elsa's powers may prove a tad bit "difficult" in a party situation.
