Jennifer Lawrence Accumulates Support of Her Co-Stars; Says She Is A Trendsetter
The recent Hollywood buzz regarding the compensation gap initiated by Jennifer Lawrence has stimulated the interest of many stars in the industry. All thanks to Lawrence for underlining and bringing up the matter, she is now extensively praised and acknowledged over the fact which was given trivial importance in the past.
The topic has stirred Lawrence’s award winning co-stars. In some cases she has been recognized and applauded, whereas in the other scenarios, she has been a victim of bitter criticism.
Recently, many of her colleagues have responded to Lawrence’s claims over the matter. One of the highlighted personalities include Bradley Cooper, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska. The former admired Lawrence’s standpoint and backed his co-star over the Hollywood gender pay gap concerns. According to him, the statement delivered by Lawrence has given her leverage in the entire business industry as she has assertively taken up the cause.
The actress was bound to articulate her thoughts over the matter when she discovered that she had been accumulating less amount of money as compared to her male co-stars, including Cooper in ‘American Hustle’.
"I got mad at myself. I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early," Lawrence said.
Cooper reinforced Lawrence’s claims and said "She worked every day on that movie and got paid nothing. It's really horrible actually, it's almost embarrassing”.
She was able to emphasize her perspective when her writing was presented in the Lena Dunham’s newsletter, which sparked the elements of thrill among the top-notch actors. She also expressed her frustration over the fact that how women have to undergo challenges, especially when they are surrounded in a male dominant society. The incidents include Ashley Judd as well, who has considered herself a victim of harassment during the production of her masterpiece.
According to Lawrence, the concept of gender pay gap should be abandoned right away and talented, female actors should also be granted opportunities in the same manner as males of the industry.
