Microsoft Will Finally Show Consumer Features Of Windows 10 In January: Report
Microsoft is planning to demonstrate the consumer features of the Windows 10 OS at a special event to be held in late January, sources confirmed to The Verge.
Ever since Microsoft unveiled the Windows 10 at a small event in San Francisco in September, there have been a lot of questions about the consumer preview of the Windows 8 successor. It seems the dust is finally settling down, as The Verge is reporting that the Windows 10 consumer preview will be demonstrated at a special event in late January. Microsoft will not share the stage during the CES 2015 in the same month, but wait till the event is over to make its grand launch.
According to The Verge, citing anonymous sources, the consumer preview of Windows 10 will showcase a slew of new features including a new touch interface called "Continuum." During the event, the Redmond based software titan will also reveal future plans for Windows phone and tablets along with Xbox One dashboard updates.
The publication did not reveal any specific date or the venue for the event, but industry experts expect the software company to announce official details before the end of 2014. It is also expected that the upcoming event will give more in-depth information about Windows 10 and run longer compared to San Francisco's one-hour long event.
San Francisco's event was not of much relevance to the consumers as the OS was a business preview. Based on the looks of the business preview of Windows 10, it appears Microsoft has learnt its lesson for forcing touch and tile-interface onto its users too quickly. As a result, the company attracted unwanted negativity.
Microsoft tried fixing the problems in its Windows 8.1 update, where it brought the Start menu back to OS to help users with the transition. The upcoming event will give a first glance at the Windows 10 consumer preview.
