‘Fast and Furious 8’ Cast Update: Elijah Wood to Play Vin Diesel’s Illegitimate Son?
Elijah Wood, who is co-stars with Vin Diesel in "The Last Witch Hunter," wants in on the "Fast and Furious" franchise.
While at New York Comic-Con 2015, Wood, who was sitting on a panel for the upcoming action/fantasy movie about witch hunters, was asked about the pitch he gave on Friday in regards to starring in an upcoming "Fast and Furious" movie. The 34-year-old actor, known for his work on "The Lord of the Rings" movies and the TV show, "Wilfred," was more than happy to answer moderator Joshua Horowitz's question.
"This is my pitch - So basically, Dom [Toretto] has an illegitimate son that he wasn't aware of," Wood began. "But I think in order for the timing to work out it has to be for 9, not 8, so I'll show up in the ninth one. And, I'll just show up to the door like, 'Dad!'"
Wood jokingly added, "'I got a cool car, too, Dad! Can I join your awesome gang of driving freaks?' We'll fight together like family!'"
It is no surprise that Wood would want to play Diesel's son. Wood recently revealed that he had a great time working with Diesel.
"It was fun, wild, hard to contextualize," said Wood. "He's a big personality and I think what's interesting about him was getting to know sort of the fantasy nerd side of him. He grew up reading fantasy novels. So that was cool."
Wood was the only co-star who praised Diesel.
Lotte Verbeek, who plays Diesel's wife in the movie, said, reported by Entertainment Weekly, "This was definitely a passion project for him. I just applaud him for being so courageous to launch something completely new while he's at the height of the success of the Fast and Furious movies. It's always the best scenario if an actor is really excited about what they're doing. Every time he showed up, every time I talked to him, he was like, 'How can we make this better?'"
"The Last Witch Hunter" comes out in theaters on October 23, 2015.
