Bill Belichick Claims he has not Stepped Foot in a Grocery Store for Years
Is Bill Belichick too good to buy his own groceries?
During Belichick's Wednesday morning news conference, the head coach of the New England Patriots made a startling revelation that had nothing to do with football.
One reporter asked, in regards to the Patriots' upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts, "I know you can't concern yourself with the mentality of the Patriots fan, but recently has anyone pulled you aside in the grocery store and been like, 'Bill, kick Indy's butt, will ya?'"
Belichick answered, "I haven't been to the grocery store in a couple years."
That one soundbite has now circulated the Internet like wildfire. Ben Volin of the Boston Globe was quick to investigate and debunk Belichick's claim.
Hate to burst Belichick's bubble, but my folks saw him at a Publix down in Florida shortly after the Super Bowl

Whether or not Belichick told the truth about his grocery shopping habits was not the point of the news conference. When asked again about the matchup between the Patriots and the Colts, Belichick did not hype it up at all.
"It's the same questions every week. We're getting ready to play a game on Sunday and we're going to do the best we can to prepare for it and be ready to go and perform well on Sunday night. That's what we do," Belichick said.
The Patriots played the Colts in last year's AFC Championship game and although the Patriots won by a huge margin of 45-7, they found themselves at the start of the Deflategate scandal.
Mike Wells of ESPN.com provided his thoughts about how both teams are downplaying this rematch.
He said:
"The Colts did what they believe was right by notifying the NFL with their concerns over the air pressure of the balls in last year's AFC Championship Game. But beyond that, they've said very little about Deflategate. As much as it makes things tough on the media, that's the right approach to take, because let's be real, the amount of air pressure in the footballs is not the reason why the Patriots have dominated the Colts by an average of 29 points since Indianapolis took Luck with the No. 1 pick in 2012. Indianapolis is trying to downplay this game...The players have been saying it's just another game on the 16-game schedule. Nobody is buying it. The Colts know they'll continue to be measured by how well they perform against New England and the rest of the title-contending teams.
The undefeated Patriots will play the Colts (3-2) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
