Daughter Welcomes Soldier In The Grand Army Parade
Maj. Gen. Ryan Gonsalves was the post commander at Fort Carson, Colorado, and stood up to greet the members of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, who were giving him a welcome parade after he returned from a nine-month deployment.
He never thought that his two-year-old daughter was going to upstage them all.
But she did. Two-year-old Karas Oglesby could not wait to meet him, so she ran upto him. He had just come back after a nine-month deployment to south-west Asia and was getting a welcome from the army's top officials.
But his daughter did one better. She just ran to him before everyone else, and hugged him.
"She was excited. She spotted me from a couple rows back, and she couldn't contain herself. I wasn't gonna tell her no," said Oglesby, according to Newsday.
But it was just a hug and a kiss, after which Oglesby simply sent her back to her mother and sister, reported the SF Gate.
"Everyone thought it was awesome," said Fort Carson spokeswoman Dani Johnson.
The First Lt. Daniel Oglesby's daughter Karas hugged him closely at the ceremony, according to the Associated Press.
Everyone erupted in laughter, including the general.
