Rupert Murdoch Apologizes For 'Insensitive' Tweet About Obama
Rupert Murdoch, who founded the News Corp. media empire, including Fox News Channel has been part of a number of presidential campaigns, generously airing his political opinions through Twitter, according to HNGN.
Thursday was not a pretty day for Rupert Murdoch, who had to aplogise for a rather controversial comment that set the social media on fire Wednesday night, according to the New York Daily News.
"Apologies!" he tweeted, while under fire. "No offence meant. Personally find both men charming," said Murdoch via Twitter .
Earlier, Murdoch had tweeted on Wednesday that Ben Carson and his wife were "terrific" and added: "what about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide?" In another tweet, he encouraged people to read a New York magazine article about how blacks are disappointed about the president.
His comment had drawn a lot of ire on Murdoch as well as Fox News, which he owns. But the spokesman was non commital.
"I did note that Mr. Murdoch tweeted an apology this morning. I also noted that a Fox corporate spokesperson was asked about this and said something like, 'I'm not going to quote on Mr. Murdoch's tweets.' And I'm not going to either," said White House press secretary Josh Earnest, according to Yahoo News.
Carson called the controversy "much ado about nothing."
"I know Rupert Murdoch," Carson said. "He's not a racist by any state of the imagination. He's just expressing his opinion."
