Spencer Stone, Hero Who Stopped French Train Attack, Stabbed Multiple Times
Spencer Stone was one among three US recipients of the French Legion of Honor, who heroically stopped an attack on a French train in August.
He was stabbed in Sacramento, California, Wednesday evening, according to the U.S. Air Force, reported FOX News.
Surveillance videos of the altercation have recorded 30 seconds of violence and street fights around 1 a.m. on Oct 8. There are two groups who start in a casual way, but the fight seems to mount and then die down, until the two go their separate ways. Spencer Stone tried to defend a friend but was attacked.
"A1C Spencer Stone has been transported to a local hospital, and is currently being treated for injury," an Air Force spokesman said. "The incident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement."
His family is overwhelmed at the support from the public. "The family of Airman Spencer Stone appreciates the outpouring of love and support,
While it is not known what exactly led to the stabbing, police reports explain that he was "stabbed multiple times in the torso" after an altercation outside a bar in downtown Sacramento.
Described as "two male Asian adults in white T-shirts and blue jeans", the stabbers ran away from the spot in a 2009-2012 dark Toyota Camry, police said.
"A grainy surveillance video" shot outside the liquor store showed a man who looked like Stone fighting with many on the spot. The group spilled into the street as people hit each other, while one of them was hit.
After the attack, homicide detectives visited the scene, reported NBC's California affiliate KCRA.
While a man and a woman have been questioned, it is not known whether they have been detained.
"This is not a terrorism related incident, nor is it related to what happened in France months ago," said a police official.
