One of the three men who thwarted a terrorist attack on a high speed train in France, Air Force medic Spencer Stone, has been hospitalized after getting stabbed repeatedly in a fight outside a Sacramento, California bar.

The fight took place around 1 a.m. when Stone got into an altercation with a group of men that quickly escalated and ended with Stone in the hospital in serious condition, according to the New York Daily News.

Stone's injuries are serious but not life-threatening. Police are currently looking for the attackers, who fled the scene of the crime after inflicting the devastating damage.

The fight began as a verbal altercation between Stone's group of friends and another group, but quickly got out of hand and led to the stabbing. It has been reported that Stone was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center and suffered from a collapsed lung.

It is unclear what started the fight, but alcohol was likely a factor given the timing and location of the incident.

The authorities say the incident was not related in any way to the events that transpired in France over the summer when Stone and two of his friends vacationing in France heard a man cock a rifle in the bathroom of a high speed train and interceded, saving countless lives.

They were honored both by both the President of France, Francois Hollande, and U.S. President Barack Obama for their courage. In France, Stone and his friend were awarded the Legion of Honor.
