When Apple did not reveal the new Macbook Air last month, tech pundits predicted another year's wait before it would be launched. New reports however suggest Apple could be breaking tradition to launch the new Macbook early next year.

Apple products are usually released in September or October. This year, Apple announced the much anticipated iPhone 6S and the iPad Pro. A new Macbook Air though rumored for launch, was not showcased. According to Latinos Post, the Cupertino giant wanted the iPad Pro to hog the limelight and without its sales cannibalized by new laptops. The iPad Pro will not just have to hold its own against previous generation Apple products will also have to face off Google's Pixel C and Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which was unveiled on Tuesday.

Christian Post points to the coming of Macbook Air in early months of 2016 by drawing attention to discounts being offered on existing Macbooks. Discounts on existing and previous generation models are seen as harbinger of new models.

While reports conflicting early launch speculation have also been doing the rounds, they suggest that the new Macbook Air will be powered by Intel's Skylake processos and will be sold in two screen sizes.
