The Pokémon Company has left fans hanging without a release date after confirming that "Pokémon GO" will happen.

Earlier reports believed that the game could be coming out before the end of the year. However, now it seems like "Pokémon GO" will be coming out sometime in 2016.

Last month, the CEO of the corporation, which is owned by Nintendo, Tsunekazu Ishihara revealed that "Pokémon GO" will be a virtual game that allows players to become "real" Pokémon trainers. Players will be able to bring their Pokémon with them all over the world.

John Hanke, founder of the Niantic company that helped create the game, said last month to PC Advisor, "For the first time, Pokémon will roam free in the real world. Pokémon GO will allow players to capture Pokémon who inhabit parks, shopping areas, sidewalks and the countryside all around the world. Imagine discovering a Squirtle hiding along the waterfront in San Francisco, a Bulbasaur at Shinjuku Station or a Pikachu beneath the Eiffel Tower."

"Pokémon GO," which has reportedly been in the works since 2013, will be available for free on mobile devices running on iOS and Android but it will work best with a Nintendo created device called the Pokémon GO Plus. The Bluetooth device, which is wearable, will alert the gamer via a vibration and a blinking light, whenever a Pokémon is nearby. Trainers can then catch the Pokémon by pressing a button.

There will also be in-app purchases available. It is unclear how these purchases will affect one's overall gaming experience.

Gamers will be able to play and compete against one another.
