Gigi Hadid Lashed Back At Body-Shaming Trolls In Social Media
Gigi Hadid, even being a veteran in the runway at 20, is no exception for the nasty body-shaming comments that some people throw at celebrities in social media.
The curvy blonde, who has participated in Diane von Furstenburg, Tommy Hilfiger and Versace fashion shows, addressed negative comments on Instagram, SI reported.
In a post, she wrote, "I represent a body image that wasn't accepted in high-fashion before, and I'm very lucky to be supported by designers, stylists, and editors that I am: ones that know this is fashion, it's art; it can never stay the same. It's 2015. Yes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I'm not asking for special treatment. Your mean comments don't make me want to change my body."
The supermodel, who is a two-time cover girl for Sports Illustrated magazine, further went on mentioning other celebrities whom she admired.
"I ♡ YONCES BODY
I ♡ @angelcandice's body
I ♡ @CandiceHuffine's body
I ♡ RIRI's BODY
I ♡ KENNYS BODY
Love so many"
She mentioned more celebrities in another post.
"All different-all perfect
I ♡ @theashleygraham's body
I ♡ my body
I ♡ taytays body
I ♡ Queen khloes body
I ♡ A.Simpsons body
I ♡ SERENAS body"
The 20-year old model's stance immediately got support from Tyra Banks and model-activist, Ashley Graham, E! Online said.
"I haven't met you yet @gighadid but I FEEL you so much. Your words are powerful. Your words are necessary. Your words are vulnerable. Your words are real. Sending you love and hugs. From one model that had curves and a unique walk to another, Tyra," the ANTM coach wrote.
Ashley Graham echoed Banks' comment saying, "Thank you @GiGiHadid for your love and realness on body love and acceptance. If you haven't yet, look at Gigi's IG post. It's compelling."
The online support that she received are said to have touched Gigi Hadid immensely that she cried while reading their messages, Vogue reported.
"I honestly broke down, I started crying at the multiple text messages I got today from everyone, from Victoria's Secret models to plus-size models to people like Tyra Banks, who posted [the Instagram letter] and who is someone I've looked up to for my entire life. Those are the people who really touched me because I know those are the people who are the most emotionally affected within the fashion industry by this type of criticism.
