Tom Hanks’ Son Admits Addiction Problem; Now Clean and Sober
Chester Hanks a.k.a Chet Haze, Tom Hank's son, admitted that he had a cocaine addiction problem and sought help to get over it. He is now "50 days" sober.
Posting a video on his Instagram page, Chet said:
"I've been struggling with substance abuse since I was 16 years old. Finally at the age of 24 I decided to get some help. With 50 days of sobriety under my belt, I can honestly say I'm the happiest I've ever been."
Chet thanked his family and friends for being supportive in his struggle and helping him overcome his addiction troubles.
"I'm thankful for my family and everybody that cares about me, including my fans. I've been blessed with the programs of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) which allow me to rise above this disease," he added in the video.
Chet also wrote out a thoughtful caption for the video.
"I'm learning to accept my faults and be okay with being human. If anybody that sees this struggles with addiction, feel free to reach out. Thank you all for the love and support! God is real," he wrote.
In a later series of Tweets Wednesday, the rapper thanked his fans and friends for all the love adding that he was almost 60 days clean now.
"Once I decided to change my lifestyle, blessings began to manifest IMMEDIATELY. But the truth is I've always been blessed," one tweet read.
"Sometimes you have to go through missteps to end up where you're meant to be, at which point you realize they were never missteps. They were just what you needed to go through at the time you were going through it, in order to grow and progress," Chet told the Los Angeles Times.
