Saudi Prince Arrested In LA Home On Sexual Assault Charges
A Saudi prince, Majed Abdulaziz Al-Saud, 28, has been charged with sexual assault and got arrested on Wednesday at a mansion in Los Angeles that he is renting. After paying a bond of $300,000 he has been released.
The LA officials said that about five women "may have been sexual assaulted" by him in his Beverly Hills compound, according to thedailybeast.
As soon as the police came to arrest him, they found a crowd of people milling around the $37-million-dollar Beverly Hill mansion.
A caretaker at the rented mansion reported that he had seen a "bleeding, screaming" woman who had tried to scale an 8-foot wall around the compound.
He was accused of "sexual assault, false imprisonment and battery", according to CNN.
After the police were asked to rush to the gated Beverly Hills neighbourhood, Beverly Glen, they arrested him and guided 20 staff out of the house, according to his neighbour, Tennyson Collins.
Earlier, a number of bigwigs from abroad have rented the 22,000-square-foot property, which is valued at $37 million in a year. However, so far there has never been such a worrying incident.
"Obviously neighbors aren't happy about it, but it is what it is," Collins said.
The Saudi Prince does not have diplomatic immunity, as was checked by the Los Angeles Police Department Consul Liaison Division. The diplomatic immunity of the foreign nationals is dependent on their status in their home country's government as well as their offences, said Capt. Tina Nieto, according to hngn.
Al-Saud's next court appearance is on October 19.
