Kim Davis Turns Republican, As She Says Democrats 'Left Her Behind'
So now, Kim Davis has had a change of heart. Not regarding permits for same-sex couples to marry, but switching over from a Democrat to a Republican.
The Kentucky County Clerk announced Friday that she felt she had been abandoned by the Democratic Party, so she has changed her loyalty to Republican. She announced it in Washington when she went to attend the Family Research Council's Value Voters Summit, where she got a reward for her resistance to the kind of marriages she had fought, said Charla Bansley, a spokeswoman for Liberty Counsel, which represents Davis in her legal battles, The Los Angeles Times reported.
Bansley explained that Davis had always been a Democrat, but now she felt that the party had not helped her.
"I've always been a Democrat, but the party left me," Davis allegedly said, according to Bansley.
When Davis had refused to issue licenses to gay couples she got slammed throughout her case, it had been the Republicans - and not Democrats - who had helped her.
Hence, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, both of whom are running for president, showed up in Kentucky help her, according to HNGN.
She explained that "My husband and I had talked about it for quite a while and we came to the conclusion that the Democratic Party left us a long time ago, so why were we hanging on?"
