Human Body Covered With "Cloud Of Microbes,” Scientists Say
Regardless of every individual’s personal hygiene, each person’s body is covered and enclosed in a tight grip of bacterial microbes. Irrespective of how well you shower or how often you take a good scrub, we are coated with tiny microbes around us, which are practically present on the entire body. From each individual’s mouth to the clothes one wear, the tiny organisms dwell on humans and continue to grow.
“In a single centimeter of skin, you can find tens of thousands of bacteria,” says James Meadow, former University of Oregon researcher and co-author of a study. According to him, the bacterial cloud is formed when an individual conducts an activity. That action can be anything; from scratching the head to eating food.
The experiment was conducted by Meadow along with his fellow colleagues. 11 participants were a part of this integral study and they were requested to sit in a sanitized chamber to proceed with the results. After four hours, the entire room was filled with countless bacteria that came out from the participant’s space. Similarly, another sanitized chamber was used, which carried none of the participants. The results were distinct and the room with no people inside exposed less amount of the microbial cloud. The researches then pulled out the DNA of the microbe, which were sequenced the 16S gene and initiated the process of comparison between the two rooms.
“Our results confirm that an occupied space is microbial distinct from an unoccupied one, and demonstrate for the first time that individuals release their own personalized microbial cloud,” said Meadow. Each person has a distinct cloud with its personal array of microbes like Streptococcus, Propionibacterium or Corynebacterium.
The conclusion of the study was purely helpful. It actually allows and assists the doctors to differentiate the types of microbes and the sources they are extracted from. Not only in medial aspects, but the study proved to be quite resourceful in the field of forensics
