Nazi Auschwitz Death Camp Worker, 91, Charged With 260,000 Counts Of 'Accessory To Murder'
The Second World War still rages in many hearts and minds.
One 91-year-old woman has 260,000 counts of "accessory to murder" in her record, as she had been involved with the Nazi SS, declared German prosecutors.
She had been working in the Auschwitz death camp complex, according to The Independent.
Her name is anonymous due to German privacy laws, said Schleswig-Holstein prosecutors' spokesman, Heinz Doellel on Monday. She was a personal radio operator of Rudolph Hoess, a prominent Nazi who was hanged for his atrocities.
The 91-year-old had worked from April to July 1944, say the duty rosters. It has been found that "she was a helper in the systematic murder of the Jews transported there," according to HNGN.
The evidence in the rosters are strong enough to charge and indict her. Another 94-year-old former sergeant at Auschwitz had ended with a conviction according to ABC News.
Many Auschwitz personnel have avoided conviction with "dementia" as an excuse. It is not clear whether this woman would be judged medically fit for trial, and if she is, she will need to go to a court in Kiel.
