Scott Walker Suspends Presidential Campaign

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is suspending his race for president as he trails frontrunners Carly Fiorina and Donald Trump by huge margins.

The Governor was formerly a front-runner in the crowded race for the Republican Party nomination, but as he slumped in the polls, and his funding dried up, he has decided the best course of action is to suspend his campaign, according to The New York Times.

The governor who began 2015 at the top of the polls officially announced his suspension at a press conference in the Wisconsin capitol of Madison at 6 p.m. Eastern time. As political outsiders like Trump, Fiorina, and Dr. Ben Carson made serious inroads with Republican voters, Gov. Walker could not keep up and soon found his expenses vastly outpacing his donations.

The rise of Trump in particular took the most steam out of Walker's presidential bid, as many of Walker's supporters abandoned him as the New York billionaire caught fire. Another major factor for Walker's decline in the polls was his failure to come across strongly on television appearances, particularly during the Republican debates.

In the most recent poll from CNN, walker only registered support of .5 percent. Walker made a name for himself when he fought Wisconsin's entrenched labor unions to make the state a "right to work" state, which means that unions cannot make every employee of a unionized industry pay dues and other fees.

Another reported reason for Walker's decision to suspend his campaign is the fact that his donors and other supporters had pressured him to make numerous staff changes throughout his campaign organization and this was an idea he adamantly opposed and refused to do.
