Joan Collins Is 'Completely Devastated' That Her Best Friend And Baby Sister Died
Actress Joan Collins is not able to believe that her "baby sister", the best-selling author of 32 books, Jackie Collins, died on Saturday when she was 77 years old. She had quietly fought with a stage four breast cancer for six-and-a-half-years, according to hngn.
"She was very shocked," Jackie had told People in a final interview. "She had no idea. But she was great. We were emotional."
Jackie said that she had waited for so long to tell her "Because it would have really affected her. I just felt she didn't need it in her life. She's very positive and very social but I'm not sure how strong she is, so I didn't want to burden her with it."
Jackie's three daughters got to know her secret. Tracy, Tiffany, and Rory had understood that she was dying of cancer. Up until about two weeks ago, Joan had just no clue.
Her 82-year-old sister is now "completely devastated" that her sister is dead. "She was my best friend," she said following her death. "I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and beautiful person and I love her."
Joan tweeted to express her love for her sister. "Farewell to my beautiful brave baby sister," she wrote alongside a photo of the two as children. "I will love you and miss you forever. Rest in peace."
A few days before she died, Joan had retweeted another post that said: "You could search the whole planet and not find two sister[s] who are as beautiful as @Joancollinsdbe and @jackiejcollins."
Other stars expressed their love too. Kris Jenner posted on social media:
"I'm so sad to hear about the passing of Jackie Collins..my love and prayers go out to her family and friends and to her sister Joan," she wrote. "What an amazing woman.... It was a joy and honor to have known her."
