'Big Bang Theory' SPOILERS: Are Sheldon and Amy Finished With Each Other?

Fans of season eight finale of 'The Big Bang Theory' will finally see the wedding as well as the break up that did not seem as if it would happen.

On the one hand, Leonard and Penny plan to tie the knot. On the other hand, Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) finally break up. Amy opts for a break from her longtime nerdy boyfriend.

Amy is unaware that Sheldon has a ring and is going to pop the question. However, Amy decides that it's all over. However, while Amy ends it all, Bialik ensures that "it is a break, not a break up". Sheldom will hopefully understand that they will get back together, finally.

"This is not a breakup," Bialik told Entertainment Weekly. "My mom kept asking me why all of her neighbors were asking if I'm kicked off the show. [Amy] needs space and the first episode explores how Sheldon deals with that notion."

Usually Sheldon, who is always emotioness, is now "hurt and confused" says executive producer Steve Molaro. "This is not a science project that he can solve by thinking about it. He wants to resolve this and doesn't really know how to."

"This is really out of his control and that's definitely not comfortable for him," Bialik added.

Amy too is worried about the whole issue. "This is all new to her and this is as difficult for her as it is for him," Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter. "He's not making it any easier, so I think they are both feeling their way through this and going through and experiencing feelings and emotions that I don't think they were expecting. He's not good at leaving her alone. The one thing she asked for was a little bit of time to think and he's not going to give that to her."

It is hoped that they come back together---and most probably they will. "Until the time feels right to change what's happening," Molaro said about keeping them apart. "Right now, the dynamic has been fascinating and interesting. We're seeing all new colors for both of them as well as the way it impacts the group. There's not a set plan - we're feeling this out," according to hngn.

What does the future spell for both of them? Find out more when Season 9 of "The Big Bang Theory" premiers Monday September 21 on CBS.
