Justin Bieber Promotes Shawn Mendes after Accidentally Shading him

Justin Bieber is a man of his word.

In a recent interview, the 21-year-old "What Do You Mean" singer accidentally threw some shade at Shawn Mendes when he said that he had no idea who the young singer is. After the unintentional dis, Bieber said that he would check out Mendes' music after the radio interview.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, Bieber posted a picture of Mendes's debut album, "Handwritten" with the track, "Stitches" on Instagram. The picture's caption read, "Shawn I checked out the music and I'm so proud! So glad to see another boy from Canada crushin it. #canadiansdoitbetter"

Bieber also promoted Mendes' song on his twitter account.

Mendes tweeted back, " Thanks man! Means a lot!!! @justinbieber "

Bieber's interview with 95.5 PLJ got awkward real quick when the host, Ralphie Aversa of Ralphia Tonight asked Bieber about Mendes. Bieber, with a very blank expression, had replied, "Who's Shawn Mendes." After Aversa explained that Mendes is a very young singer from Canada, Bieber stated that he would check his music out.

Mendes was asked about Bieber's comments on BBC Radio 1.

"We haven't met, but I guess he just doesn't know [me]," Mendes said. "I'm definitely a fan of him. I looked up to him for a while, but I guess he just doesn't know who I am. We'll have to let him know."

Bieber is set to perform an acoustic show in New Zealand. So far, the date and location of the show have been kept secret. The date is rumored to be between Sept 27 and Sept 30, which is when Bieber's tour makes its stop in Australia.

Tickets are reportedly being sold through the radio station, The Edge.
