Chimpanzees Love Horror Films as Much as We Do, Study
So when we say that humans have actually evolved from chimps, we say it right! Researchers have discovered certain factors and determinants that discloses the fact that the two living beings are in one way or the other linked to each other.
According to the latest study, chimpanzees are, in reality, fond of watching horror movies. Talking about entertaining humans, chimp’s desires to indulge in horror/suspense movies have been unveiled and scientists have made sure that whenever they were exposed to such horror scenarios, they were seen totally submerged and involved within the scenes.
According to the Japanese researchers, “We were giving juice while showing the videos to them but some of them even forgot to drink the juice and stared at the movies.”
The examination was conducted at Kyoto University, where the main focus of the investigation was the long term memory capacity of the chimps and their real connection with bonobos. The animals were analyzed on the basis of their eye movements as they were subjected to horror films, which were especially recorded by the investigators.
In the first part, an individual concealed in a chimp suit attacked a man and took away the banana he was eating and in the second installment, the chimp was being battered, in an unconventional way. The animals actively participated during the experiment and forgot to enjoy their juice as they were so fascinated.
The results were amazing as their eye movements were followed. It, therefore, exhibited that dramatic scenes from the movie were still settled in chimp’s mind as they totally predicted the scenes when exposed to them again.
The end segment of the results proved that the chimps have human like qualities and can accumulate information based on the various evidences. They can not only save the scenarios, but also recollect them whenever necessary. It illustrates how intelligent and resourceful they are when it comes to handling lifestyle affairs.
