‘Games of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke is ‘Uncomfortable’ with Sex Scenes
Emilia Clarke, who has bared her body for several scenes in HBO's hit series, "Games of Thrones," has shared her opinions about sex scenes.
"Sex scenes should be more subtle," the 28-year-old actress told the Daily Mail. "I'm British, so I cringe at that sort of thing anyway - I can't stand it. I don't want to have sex thrown in my face and I've always thought the suggestion is so much more titillating than the act itself. Most sex scenes you see in films or on TV are gratuitous and they're usually just to attract an audience. On screen, the subtler the better."
Her comments appear to be throwing shade at "Games of Thrones," whether she intended to or not. "Games of Thrones" is known for including very graphic sex scenes. Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, the mother of dragons, was involved in quite a few sex scenes in the earlier seasons. In the more recent seasons, however, Clarke has been able to keep her clothes on.
This is not the first time that Clarke has talked about taking off her clothes for acting. Earlier this year, Clarke revealed that she was offered the role as Anastasia Steele, the lead female role from the erotica romance movie, "Fifty Shades of Grey." Clarke stated that despite the movie's huge success in the box office, she did not regret passing up on the role because she did not want to be known as an actress who always strips down for the camera.
"I'd done nudity before and was concerned with being labeled for doing it again," Clarke said to the April 10th issue of The Hollywood Reporter Magazine.
Clarke can be seen in season six of "Games of Thrones" and in the movies, "Voice from the Stone" and "Me Before You."
