Justin Bieber: He Is Back, And Will Last It Out
Justin Bieber is one star who has not received too much popularity. However, those who still pinned hope on him had some cause to celebrate when his Skrillex/Diplo collaboration, "Where Are U Now," became a "bonafide 2015 summer jam with cross-genre and generational appeal", according to billboard.
"The single is light, catchy and a perfect way for Justin to let everyone know he means business," according to hollywoodlife.
Now that his solo track "What Do You Mean?" is ringing the till, it's clear that he is not only back, but will stay on.
So what do we mean by that?
His "What Do You Mean?" is on the top of the chart, and makes him the youngest male for the past 23 years, to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
"It's just the 23rd song in the Hot 100's 57-year history to debut at No. 1; and perhaps most important for his future, it's his first co-producing and co-writing credit on a No. 1 hit," according to billboard.
This song has another payoff. It helped "Where Are U Now" jump from the 13th to the 10th spot on the chart dated Sept. 19.
Hence, he has two concurrent top 10 hits which he co-wrote.
He had actually written that song as a moody piano ballad before sending it to Skrillex and Diplo, who took the teen pop singer into their grown-up musical realm.
They both said that they were surprised by his "natural talent" and Skrillex even called him a "f***ing virtuoso," which was echoed by Travis Scott, too.
"Where Are U Now" was key to Bieber's success with "What Do You Mean?"
After "Where Are U Now," Bieber became the wanted star, and charted new territory with his Diplo/Skrillex collabo.
"Where Are U Now," was creative and catchy, and brought in all the fans, but he has also proved with "What Do You Mean?" that he doesn't need Skrillex and Diplo to push ahead. He is collaborating with Jason Boyd and Mason Levy, and sounds at home with "sad, searching lyrics that are counterbalanced by airy, jaunty music".
So that's what we mean. When "Where Are U Now" showed that he is here, his following song shows that he will stay here.
