1.8 Inch Needle Lodged in a Two Year Old’s Brain, Discovered After 46 Years
After decades of severe headaches, a 1.8 inch needle has been found lodged in a 48-year-old woman's brain for 46 years.
Liu had been experiencing headaches for over a lifetime, and over the course of time visited varied doctors but never really found an end to her distressing predicament. Until recently, when after experiencing a bout of excruciating headaches and when one side of her body became alarmingly numb, she was admitted to the Huaibel Miners General Hospital where the startling discovery of the needle was made.
The MRI scan in the hospital apparently kept beeping every time Ms Liu was wheeled through it, a clear indication of metal detection, making the staff suspicious. This triggered the staff to take a CT scan which revealed the shocking X-ray showing the needle lodged in the lady's brain near the top of her skull. This was reported by the People Daily Online.
Further analysis revealed that the needle could presumably have been lodged for nearly 46 years and must have been the cause for years of Ms Liu's agonizing headaches.
According to Inquisitr, a disturbing twist is that the 'needle sticking into the skull' could be related to an age old practice of female infanticide in China. This appalling practice apparently involved pushing pins and needles into vital organs of female infants, performed with fatal intentions. But whether in the case of Ms Liu it is linked to infanticide or accidental, hasn't been established yet.
