New England Patriots Rumors: Reggie Wayne Asked for Release, Said Team was ‘not fun’
Reggie Wayne was one of 11 players who got cut by the New England Patriots this past Saturday.
According to Scott Zolak, a former quarterback for the Patriots, a source revealed that Wayne, 36, had asked to be released because the "work environment was too tough." The source added that the former Indianapolis Colts receiver thought that playing for Patriots was "not fun."

Despite Wayne's very short time in New England, head coach Bill Belichick released a statement about him, which is something that he does not usually do for guys who have only been on the team for a very short period of time.
His statement read:
"Obviously, Reggie's time here was brief, but it only confirmed what I already thought - he is a true professional who represents every positive attribute a player should emulate. Our parting was mutually agreed upon and I am personally grateful to have worked with one of the great NFL players of the past two decades."
Wayne signed with the Patriots on Aug. 24 and participated in two preseason games. In those two games, he caught two passes for 24 yards.
In 2014, he made 64 receptions for 779 yards and two touchdowns. Throughout his 14-year career with the Colts, he has a total of 1070 receptions (seventh in NFL history), 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns.
Wayne will still be making $450,000, which was guaranteed in his contract. The veteran is now a free agent who might sign with another team or retire.
