Facebook Hits A Benchmark With 1 Billion Using It On The Same Day For The First Time
Thursday was a mind-blowing day for Facebook, as the CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that for the first time in its history, the social media site got a billion users active in a single day, according to hngn.
It was a point that was recorded Monday. The users total to roughly about one in seven people on Earth.
"We just passed an important milestone," chief executive and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg declared in a post on his Facebook page.
"On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family."
"When we talk about our financials, we use average numbers, but this is different," Zuckerberg wrote. "This was the first time we reached this milestone, and it's just the beginning of connecting the whole world."
The daily user numbers are disclosed every quarter by Facebook, when it reports its financial results, which exhibit the average numbers of daily users counted over 30 days.
Last month, Facebook said that it had about 1.5 billion users logging on at least once a month. It was a considerable 13 per cent leap from last year, according to Yahoo! News.
Logging into Facebook is a good way of connecting with people throughout the world. He added that "A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values," he concluded.
