NBA Free Agent Rumors: Clippers, Mavericks Eyeing Glen Davis
The Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks are vying for a big man once again. This time, however, it is for Glen "Big Baby" Davis and not the coveted free agent, DeAndre Jordan, who ended up signing with the Clippers after agreeing to sign with the Mavericks.
According to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, the Clippers and the Mavericks, as well as teams from Europe and China, are interested in acquiring the 29-year-old forward.
Turner reported that Davis' representatives met with Clippers head coach and president of basketball operations, Doc Rivers, on Monday. Since the Clippers have added a lot of depth to their bench by brining in Josh Smith, Cole Aldrich and Paul Pierce, many speculated that there would be no space for Big Baby. However, it seems like Rivers has something planned for Davis.
If Davis re-signs with the Clippers, who he has played for in the past two seasons, he is expected to receive a veteran minimum of $1.35 million.
Turner later tweeted that that on Wednesday, Davis received a phone call from the Mavericks, who want to add a veteran forward. If Davis does not sign with either team, he is expected to play abroad, either in Europe or China.
In this past season, Davis averaged 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 74 games. He has played for the Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic in his career.
