Galaxy Note 5 S-Pen Design Flaw to Be the Bane of Samsung?

Just weeks after the launch of its flagship phablet Note 5, Samsung has been hit by a design flaw.

Android Police detailed a video showing how the Note 5's S Pen could be jammed if inserted the wrong way into its slot at the device's bottom. Attempts to extract the stylus could damage the phone's stylus detecting mechanism. The flaw is inserting the pen the wrong way is just as easy as putting it in the right way which is point-first.

"On the Note 5, inserting the S Pen the wrong way provides exactly as much resistance as inserting it the right way. Which is to say: basically none at all," Android Police wrote questioning how the flaw could have escaped testing at Samsung.

The report further points out that older Note devices with S Pen did not suffer from the flaw as inserting the pen the wrong would be difficult, alerting the user.

Samsung Note 5 has received positive reviews for its performance and hardware but it remains to be seen how far the flaw could affect Samsung.

The company meanwhile has responded to reports of the flaw advising users to follow instructions in the user manual.
