Maiyim Bialik Visited Israel But Claims That It's Never Going to be Trendy to be Religious in Hollywood
She is the Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik who has been in the public eye as an entertainer. However, her recent views on religion in a recent interview with Fox News was clear that she doesn't think "Hollywood is very friendly to people who are outspoken about their faith", according to usmagazine.
Bialik, on the other hand, has always been open-minded about her Orthodox Jewish faith.
"I think in general it's never going to be trendy to be observant or religious in Hollywood circles," she said. "There are people I know of faith and we tend to congregate together. I study Jewish texts weekly. That's something positive to me when you're a person of faith, it stays with you all the time."
The 39-year-old explained that when she recently went for a visit an Israeli friend in the Defense Forces, her fans had been critical.
"I've gotten a lot of negative attention for visiting Israel," she said. "That's what's amazing ... simply by going to Israel this summer and saying nothing more than, 'I've gone to Israel,' I got the same amount of hatred and threats and anti-Semitism for actually making a statement trying to support people whether I like it or not are serving in an army."
She was clear that she studies Jewish religious texts regularly and likes to congregatewith fellow Jews, according to inquistr.
She is also a neuroscientist and adds that some people can't understand how she can be both a scientist and a Jewish believer."Being a scientist and a person of faith, people want to know how that is. It leads to a lot of interesting conversations that I welcome but a lot of people want to open up a conversation just to tell you, you're wrong," MayimBialik said. "I am who I am and it just kind of happened the fact that I'm a public person but there are a lot of other parts to me."
She was an ex-Blossom star and mother of two. She has been frank about her "modest" views, though.
Last September, she blogged about Ariana Grande for being "scantily clad" on a billboard.
"I am a bleeding heart liberal without exception," she wrote in September 2014. "But I am old-fashioned. My kids have clothes they wear only to synagogue. I don't favor my kids cursing. I dress modestly. I don't want my kids learning about sex from billboards. Stuff like that. Which is why a few billboards I have seen lately really bug me."
She had also slammed Disney's hit animated film, Frozen, which brought out an indignant reaction from Rosie O'Donnell."I feel that Frozen is the best Disney movie ever made," O'Donnell said on The View. "I've seen it 250 times. I can say it, I have every word memorized, [and] I love it like the rest of America."
