One ten-year-old in Florida is called a hero. She waded back into the sea to save her six-year-old friend, although she was bitten by a shark, according to mummypages.

Even when she was swimming in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, last Wednesday, Kaley Szarmack was bitten by a 3-foot long shark on her leg.

At first, Kaley Szarmarck was playing in three to four feet of water at around 3:30pm on Wednesday, when she felt a sharp pain below her right knee. When she looked down, she saw a three-foot-long shark.

Fortunately she could escape from the shark, but then realised that her six-year-old friend was still in the water, ABC News reports. So she went back in to get the little girl out to safety, according to dailymail.

Her father, Dave Szarmack, said that he is very proud of his daughter. He is also a firefighter.

"She turned and yelled to her friend get out of the water! It's a shark! So this little girl ran, a friend of our daughters, to go get the moms. And Kaley walked herself out of the ocean," he said.

"And she realized the six-year-old was still in the water. So she turned around and went back and got the six-year-old and took her out of the water. She pulled the little girl back out of the water."

He said it was difficult to see his daughter in so much pain.

"You see all kinds of things as a fireman, but when you see your baby, even if it was a little blood, but this was, to see it, I was just, it was really difficult to see. It was just tough. That's my little girl," he said.

She was taken to the hospital with many more lacerations and got 90 stitches in her leg.
