Scott Walker Dismisses The New Drive: I don't have time for Black Lives Matter - Let's Talk About Things That Matter
While he was on a drive at New Hampshire, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker called a proposal to meet Black Lives Matter activists as "ridiculous," according to raw story.
Walker seems to have become more "aggressive"---perhaps because his campaign is "floundering" in nearby Iowa?
At a 'Politics and Eggs' breakfast forum in Manchester on Friday, he was asked if he would spend time with African-American activists. Walker called the question "ridiculous."
"I'm going to meet with voters. I mean, I've said, it's not just - who knows who that is?" he replied and then compared the grassroots civil rights organization to the Tea Party.
"I'm going to talk with American voters. Period. It's the same way as saying you're going to meet with the Tea Party," he continued. "Who's the Tea Party? There's hundreds of thousands of people out there."
"I'm here to talk to voters in New Hampshire about things that matter," Walker told the Daily Mail reporter.
The Black Lives Matter activists have met a number of 2016 Democratic presidential candidates, but the Republicans have closed up. Trump threatened to have protesters "beat up," and Walker is asking why they matter.
At the Iowa State Fair, he had ignored questions and comments from Black Lives Matter protesters "who were bussed in for his political event".
The Wisconsin constituent and BLM activist Ciara Fox of Milwaukee said that Walker refused to take even one question from a black member of the audience.
He thought it was brave of him to ignore them. "You want someone who's tested? I'm right here. You can see it. This is what happened in Wisconsin. We will not back down!" he told the crowd.
Walker has sure been getting quite a lot of boos for his attitude. As dailykos put it: "He refuses to be intimidated because if he finds himself in an intimidating situation, he will run for the hills like a bee-stung dog. You know-courage. "Tested." Work with me people, Scott Walker doesn't have a whole lot of other talking points to use here."
