Beverly Hills Star Shannen Doherty Admits To Have With Breast Cancer; Blames Former Business Manager
Beverly Hills 90210 actress Shannen Doherty admits in an interview that she has breast cancer and it has aggravated in the time when her former business manager did not grant her a health insurance.
In lawsuit filed on Wednesday, Doherty claimed that her former business managers and accountants did not handle her finances well which lead them not to renew her health insurance in 2014 and had delayed treatment for her breast cancer, Yahoo News said.
She only knew that she has breast cancer on March 2015. By then, the cancer cells have started its spread.
She "discovered that she had invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node and "was informed that her cancer had spread during 2014 (when she was uninsured)" the lawsuit said in a report from People.
Further, her inability to have the health care and the spread of cancer has caused her 'severe emotional distress.'
"The relationship between a business manager and its client is based on trust, in honesty and competence. That trust was violated here, and we hope that the defendants will correct it in a responsible manner," Doherty's attorney, Devin McRae said in a statement.
Tanner Mainstain Glynn & Johnson, the accounting firm responsible for the actress' finances, however, denied her statement saying that they have caused the discontinued services of her health insurance.
"Tanner Mainstain is saddened to learn that Ms. Doherty is suffering from cancer and wishes her a full recovery. However, the claim that Tanner Mainstain caused her to be uninsured, prevented her from seeking medical care, or somehow contributed to her cancer is patently false. Tanner Mainstain will aggressively defend all of Ms. Doherty's claims in court," the company's attorney, Randall J. Dean, said in a statement.
Despite the illness, the 44-year old actress continued to have a positive outlook in her life.
"I am continuing to eat right, exercise and stay very positive about my life. I am thankful to my family, friends and doctors for their support and, of course, my fans who have stood by me," she told People.
Meanwhile, in her Twitter account, Shannen Doherty, did not talk about her breast cancer but instead posted a message for her fans, USA Today said.
"Just know.... I love you all."
