Metal-Cased Samsung Galaxy Alpha Up For Pre-Order In UK Ahead Of Official Release
Samsung's much-rumored Galaxy Alpha with metal casing is available for pre-orders on a UK retailer's online website, ahead of its official release.
Samsung, the world's biggest smartphone company, attracted several consumers with rumors of its first metal-clad Galaxy Alpha smartphone. The tech giant remained tight-lipped about the details and the availability of the smartphone. Samsung dropped hints about the two new smartphones during the company's quarterly earnings report last week, but kept specifics to itself. Now, a UK retailer has listed the much-talked about Galaxy Alpha on its website for pre-orders.
The UK retail site Mobile Fun did not add pictures for the handset but described the phone's specs in detail. As per the listing, the handset, otherwise referred as the Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy F, features Samsung's own octa-core Exynos 5 processor and Google's Android 4.4.2 KitKat mobile operating system.
By the looks of it, the Galaxy Alpha may not carry the company's flagship status due to its low specs. It carries a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and 320ppi. The design is of much interest, with a metallic finish. Like the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Alpha also features a fingerprint scanner for device security.
Other leaked details show a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with super-fast Autofocus and LED flash. The front side of the device is powered by a 2.1-megapixel shooter along with support for 4G LE, Bluetooth 4.0 and 32GB internal storage on the inside. As reported earlier, the storage expansion option is not available in the Galaxy Alpha.
The release date is not confirmed by Mobile Fun, but earlier reports have hinted a September 13 launch for the Galaxy Alpha. If the details shown on Mobile Fun are true, the launch price for Galaxy Alpha in the UK will be £549 ($925).
