The US auto makers recently announced their sales figure for July.

The sales slipped to 16.7 million units in July from 16.9 million in June, according to experts.

"Mid-month industry surveys indicate that overall sales only pulled back slightly in July after rising to an eight-year high of 16.9 million in June, and our AlphaWise team is seeing similar trends," Morgan Stanley's Ted Wieseman said, reports the Business Insider. "Retail sales appear to have moved higher, but fleet demand pulled back after strong upside last month."

Chrysler car declined 19.6 percent to 3,307 from 4,114 in July 2013 but its truck sales boosted to 24,700 from 22,095.

General motors' sold more than 250,000 vehicles in July, which is 9 percent more compared to last year.

General motors' largest sale was SUV with a 32 percent rise compared to 2012; it gained huge profit in SUV sales in 2013.

The other cars like Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon rose to 52 and 48 percent respectively and the even larger Yukon XL jumped 27 percent. GM had to face a loss on sales from Cadillacs as it fell 3 percent from last year but its large Escalade SUV sold 3,900 which was double of the month before.

Since 2005, this July marked the 11th straight month that SUVs and trucks have outsold cars, reports The Boston Globe.
