Andrew Garfield 'Excited' For New Spiderman Tom Holland
Andrew Garfield is ready to pass his Spiderman suit to 19-year old Tom Holland set to play the iconic Marvel role.
In a red carpet moment at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Annual Grants Banquet on Thursday, the 31-year old actor responded to a question raised by ET reporter Cameron Mathison on what he felt about the new Spiderman.
"It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor," the actor said in front of the press.
Garfield continued to gushed about the Holland's talents saying, "And [he's] a dancer, so his body's the right [form]."
Garfield's last Spidey moments was in 2014 when he played Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and since then, the British actor seem to shy away from red carpet events making last Thursday's gathering his first one in more than a year.
He further said that he is happy not being pressured to play the role.
"I'm just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it."
Garfield worked with director Marc Webb in the last movie Sequel of Stan Lee's comics but both of their roles were not reprised anymore for the next Sony-Marvel movie set to be released in 2017.
A report from Screen Rant said that there were rumors of reprising Garfield and Webb's role for the next Spidey film but Marvel is said to prefer a young high-school aged version of Peter Parker.
The publication also pointed out that the movie's critical ratings and sales have not been at par with the cost that Sony has invested for its production and marketing.
It can be remembered that Andrew Garfield previously surprised fans at the Comic Con in San Diego to personally share his excitement being Spiderman, his childhood dream, Cinemablend reported.
