Floyd Mayweather and Ronda Rousey Feud: Rousey Says she can Beat Mayweather in a No Rules Fight
The verbal fight between two undefeated champions, Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather Jr. continues to heat up.
During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session on Monday, a fan asked the UFC bantamweight champion if she could beat Mayweather, who has gone 48-0 in his career, in a "rule-less" fight.
"Floyd is one of the best boxers of all time. He would definitely beat me in a boxing match. I unfortunately don't get into "matches." I fight for a living. In a no rules fight, I believe I can beat anyone on this planet," Rousey replied. "Boxing is a sweet science with strict rules that I respect very much and aspire every day to improve at. But you said ruleless fight, and that's my honest answer."
Rousey has won all of her 12 matches. 11 of her opponents were not able to get past the first round. Rousey most recently defeated Bethe Correia at UFC 190 in 34 seconds.
Rousey and Mayweather have been verbally sparring since Mayweather said, in a 2014 interview that he did not know who Rousey was. During the ESPY's award last month, Rousey called out Mayweather when she won the Best Fighter award.
"I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once," Rousey said. "I'd like to see him pretend to not know who I am now. I know for damn sure that he knew who I was, because he was running against me for Best Fighter that year and he has signed MMA fighters."
Mayweather was later asked about Rousey's comments when he was announcing Andre Berto as his next opponent.
"I've yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes," Mayweather said. "When she can do that, then call me."
Mayweather's next fight will be on Sept. 12.
