Tom Brady Thinks Peyton Manning only has 2 more Years left
Tom Brady's private emails revealed a lot about how he compares himself to one of the league's greatest quarterbacks, Peyton Manning.
In the email, which the New England Patriots quarterback had sent to a friend during the 2014 season, he wrote that he believed Manning had two more years left in the league where as he can probably play another seven to eight years. Brady, 38, is only one year younger than Manning.
The email, which was obtained during the Deflategate investigation, read: "Thanks popa, I've got another 7 or 8 years. He has 2. That's the final chapter. Game on."
This email was written to Kevin Brady on Nov. 1, six days before Brady and the Patriots played against the Denver Broncos. The Patriots won that game 43-21.
On Nov.3, Brady's email response to blogger Jay Flannelly read, "We are some hard working grinders beav. That's what our team is all about. Our best is still ahead of us."
Flannelly had written, "LOL front runners LOL. Manning needs things to be perfect to succeed, weather, his system, etc. You right about November -- HUGE. ... Also agree with your postgame presser assessment--- left points on the field -- should have put a hundred on that team...FGs into TDs changes that--finish drives....Always helps when other team is DUMB -- LBer on Gronk on 2 yd line? VON MILLER!? I really like this team and we have a long way to go but I want ring 4! Rest, rehab, reflect -- Lets get ready for this run. Proud of U ... GO BLUE!!! GO PATS!!! GO TB!!! GO G!!!"
Despite Brady's uneven assessment of his and Manning's future in the league, Brady has always praised Manning for being one of the best.
"[Manning has] been one of the greatest players to ever play," Brady said. "I've been fortunate to share a field with one of the best players that has ever played the game. And every time we play a Peyton Manning-led team, it comes down to the wire. Everything is usually at stake."
The Brady-Manning rivalry will not play out this season unless they meet in the playoffs.
