The search is on for a registered sex offender who ran from a Fort Worth halfway house late Tuesday, according to https://www.fox4news.com/story/29713194/sex-offender-escapes-from-fort-worth-halfway-house Texas Department of Public Safety officials have launched a search.

Brent Allen Jozefkowicz, 48, climbed out of the house in the 600 block of North Henderson in Fort Worth and severed a 24-hour electronic tracking device.

Said Texas Department of Public Safety officials, that Jozefkowicz is a "violent sexual predator" whose record includes "sexual assault and indecency" on one child. He spent 16 years in prison for assaulting a 21-year-old woman and a couple of years for indecency with a 14-year-old girl, according to wfaa.

"We want to make sure that we get the word out to the public so that they can be our eyes and our ears," said Sgt. Lonny Haschel with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The halfway house was a former motel on Henderson Street, with 30 sex offenders who have completed their prison terms, but are still thought of to be too dangerous to be released. They're monitored electronically, and are undergoing a civil commitment program, in which Jozefkowicz had been taken since 2009.

With ties to Wichita Falls, he may be going in that direction.

Being 5 feet 10 inches in height, he has a weight of 193 pounds. He also has hazel eyes and brown hair and was last spotted with blue jeans, a red T-shirt and green poncho.

"We want to make sure that people are paying attention, being observant," Texas DPS Sgt. Lonny Haschel said, according to nbcdfw.  "We don't have any information that leads us to believe there are weapons involved, and such, but you never know."
