Nokia to use its trustworthy brand to roll out new products

Nokia is planning to make a big announcement on Tuesday, according to reports. Following Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's Devices and Services division in April of this year, the company has been working on a new project.

In a hint posted on Twitter, Nokia says "Guess what? We're up to something" with a November 18 date and photo of a plain black box, with the Nokia logo on top. It's unknown what is inside the box.

The Helsinki, Finland-based networking and communications company is legally obligated to stay out of the mobile market until 2016, but that doesn't mean they can't use the Nokia brand for other hardware ventures.

One thing that is still extremely valuable to Nokia though is its brand name. According to Engadget, Nokia's brand is the 98th most valuable in the world worth $3.2 billion, and they want to start licensing out the Nokia name to third-party companies.

The announcement tomorrow will likely coincide with Finland's Slush Conference, which is a two-day event where tech startup companies come to showcase their ideas.

In the past six months, Nokia's profits have shown growth in the company, after a few years of stagnation. The mobile division seems to have been a big sinkhole Nokia was glad to get rid of, with Microsoft sacking 18,000 employees shortly after the purchase.
