Anwan Glover, the actor musician was stabbed at a night club in Washington D.C. Sunday, following a performance

Glover was beaten and stabbed by several unknown people at an event following a performance by his musical group at a concert venue in Columbia, Md.

The star was standing on the second floor of the cafe Asia club when he was attacked. He was punched hard in the face causing him to slip and fall. As he fell on the floor he was kicked and someone shouted "he has a knife" and Glover says he immediately felt a sharp pain in his side.

The actor was treated at George Washington University Hospital for the laceration on the right side of his upper body.

"Anwan is no stranger to challenges and struggle, he has overcome many," Glover's manager, Tiffany Turner told MyFoxDC.com. "It is unfortunate that a 'man of the people' or anyone for that matter, cannot attend events without the possibility of injury just by being a bystander."

The reason behind the attack is yet unclear, reports the Daily Digest News.

Glover was shot 13 times while growing up in the district's Columbia Heights neighborhood and also his brother was shot and killed in the same place, reports the Washington Post. In 2011, his son was also shot during a party at D.C.

Anwan Glover is an actor and musician born and raised in the D.C.. He was a founding member of the Backyard Band, a go-go band, and as a teenager.

The actor has acted in the HBO series The Wire and the 2013 Oscar-winning film, Twelve Years a Slave.
