Mission Impossible star, Tom Cruise and Jimmy Fallon stunned the audience of The Tonight Show as they engaged in a lip sync battle.

Filled with mirth, the challenge showcased hit songs of the 70s and 80s particularly highlighting tracks used in Cruise's 80s blockbuster, Top Gun and Risky Business, E! Online reported.

Even at the start of the challenge, Fallon had already acknowledged that competing vis-à-vis with the 53-year old star would be different.

"I'm facing off against one of the biggest movie stars of all time," he told the audience.

The Mission Impossible actor, meanwhile, keeps his humility by responding, "This is going to be ridiculous."

For his opening number, the actor stunned the audience by doing a lip sync of a sexy song "Can't Feel My Face" by The Weeknd.

"My first song has been at the top of the charts all summer long. It's the song of the summer. Right, Jim?"

The Weeknd creator who saw the performance aired his praise for Tom on Twitter as mentioned by Rollingstone.

"I can't believe @TomCruise is singing my song. @jimmyfallon you're the MAN for this one... that shit got me hype... lol I can't lie."

As for Jimmy Fallon's opening act, he did a cover for his favorite band, The Rolling Stones 'Undercover of the Night.'

The movie star also relive some of his signature Risky Business moves by doing a cover of Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll" and the 80s hit single from Meatloaf, "Paradise by the Dashboard."

When his turn came, Fallon asked Tom's help in lip syncing The Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."

Fallon and Cruise got near the audience while singing the ballad and randomly stopped in front of a girl from Tennessee named Kristen and her husband Patrick Murray, WBIR Com said.

In an interview, Kristen never expected to stand face-to-face with Tom Cruise, one of his movie idols.

"I go 'Wow, that's the song from Top Gun.' That's one of my favorite movies ever. All of a sudden I had all these cameras in my face. It was definitely an experience," Murray said.
