Fukushima Radiation Has Led To Mutant Daisies

A man living in Japan's Nasushiobara City first saw the "frighteningly deformed daisies" near Fukushima, according to discovery.

The Fukushima Daichii Nuclear Power Plant tragedy in 2011 still continues to affect the nearby areas, even after four years. One mutant bunny without ears was said to have been born near the power plant, in 2011. Another picture shows daisies with deformities, a picture that has gone viral. Now the radiation effects can be felt in the soil too, according to india.

This reminds us that there were many pictures of children with no arms, hands and legs or ears for years after the Hiroshima-Nagasaki nuclear bombing by the US. A number of tweets have sprung up too. Twitter user Christian Christensen said, "Extremely disturbing picture of mutant daisies growing near Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant." Earthquakes and tsunamis caused the nuclear meltdown, and now it's due to the effects of radiation.

One twitter user, San Kaido, has posted the picture of the flowers on the Net. Fukushima diary provided a translation of San Kaido's tweet: "The right one grew up, split into 2 stems to have 2 flowers connected each other, having 4 stems of flower tied beltlike. The left one has 4 stems grew up to be tied to each other and it had the ring-shaped flower."

Worryingly, the abnormal growth of the daisy heads, also called "fasciation", is due to "hormonal imbalance".

However, San Kaido has said that the radiation measurements from the area are "safe for medium- to long-term habitation".
