For men who are worried that their penises are not up to par, a group of scientists has decided to study what part of the penis women find most important/appealing. According to this study, the number one factor for women is overall cosmetic appearance.

After overall appearance, women ranked the appearance of pubic hair and skin around the area as the second most important factor followed by girth. The length of the penis was ranked sixth on the list. The least important factors included shape and position of the urethral opening (8) and appearance of scrotum (7). Penile skin tied for third and shape of glans was fifth.

For this study, the researchers from the University Children's Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland, set out to examine how women react to men who have hypospadias, which is a medical condition where the urethra is located somewhere on the shaft but not at the tip. Men with this condition tend to have a penis that looks like it is being tipped backwards.

In the sample, some of the men had undergone surgery for hypospadias and the researchers wanted to know if women could spot the difference. Since the women were already judging penis appearance, the researchers also collected data on what women found attractive in a penis.

105 women from three different age groups (16-20, 25-30 and 40-45) participated in the study.

The study, "What is a Good Looking Penis," was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
